It’s been a long while since I’ve blogged and I have so many slowly developing blog topics swirling around in my head, but this one hit me this morning and I am taking advantage of a few minutes of quiet time to write out my thoughts. I sat down in front of the television this morning with my plate of eggs for breakfast. It’s my normal routine. I usually catch a few minutes of the news or 15 minutes of a home improvement show on HGTV while I eat some breakfast every morning just to relax and have a few minutes of peace before I start into my busy day. This happens to be October 31 and HGTV had a show on about Halloween, so I switched to my second favorite channel, TLC, and watched a few minutes of What Not to Wear!
After finishing my breakfast this morning I was cleaning up the kitchen and thinking about the kinds of shows I like to watch. Basically, it boils down to the fact that I enjoy watching shows about transformation. Transformation of ugly hodgepodge rooms into beautifully decorated rooms, transformation of women who don’t take care of themselves into women who discover their beauty and confidence again, and transformation of cluttered homes into beautifully organized homes. I just love to see transformation take place – not just in the shows I like to watch, but in myself and the people around me. I think that’s why I love my job so much. As a pastor, I get the privilege of seeing real life transformation up close and personal. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than watching someone be transformed by experiencing the fullness of the gospel of Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us we are all “being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory”. I’m being transformed and you are being transformed. We are being changed into the image of Jesus with ever increasing glory! Praise God! We are becoming more and more like Jesus all the time. I don’t know about you, but that excites me! I want to do the things that Jesus did. I want to be like Jesus. I just love transformation!
